Having a high speed internet connection is quite common these days. Almost each and every office and home has a DSL connection and very commonly this internet connection is divided among multiple computers. The modern wireless technology has revolutionized the home and office networks. These days many devices offer the facility to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi technology like laptops, cell phones, gaming consoles, media centers etc. So, many people like to put their internet connection on Wi-Fi to connect their devices and use internet wirelessly. Let’s see how to set up your home wireless network by following the simple steps.

For this purpose, you would need.

  1. TP-Link TL-WR340G wireless router.

  2. A computer connected with the wireless router.

To set up your TP-Link wireless router, just follow the steps below:

  1. The router can be connected to the computer through LAN wire or wirelessly. It is up to you if you want to connect your computer to the router through a wire or wireless network card.

  2. Now open your internet browser (Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer).

  3. In the address bar type “192.168.1.1” without quotation marks. This would be the default IP address of your router.

  4. It is advised that you change your routers default IP address. For this, when you see the TP-Link page, click networks then LAN from the menu on the left.

  5. Now in the IP address type in any IP address of your choice like 1.1.1.1

  6. Click on save button.

  7. Now close the internet browser.

  8. Open it again and this time type 1.1.1.1 (the changed IP address) in the address bar.

  9. Now click on the wireless then wireless settings from the menu on the left.

  10. Now type any name for your wireless network in the “SSID” text field

  11. Select your region.

  12. Leave channel to six (6).

  13. Select 54Mbps as mode.

  14. Check mark “Enable Wireless Router Radio” and “Enable SSID Broadcast” but do not check mark “Enable Bridges”.

  15. Select “Enable Wireless Security”

  16. Then select”WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK” as security type.

  17. If you want to put a password on your wireless network, type your desired password in “PSK Passphrase” text field

  18. Now click “save” button.

That’s it , your wireless network is set and you can connect to it within specified range.
