In this tutorial I will show you how to make a nice grass texture.

  1. Open a new file with the dimensions you want to have for the image with the texture: File – New – 700 x 700 px – OK

  2. Add a new layer: Layer – New – Layer.
Select the green color (I used #4e7927), the Paint Bucket Tool and apply on the scene to change the color of the background.

  3. Filter – Noise – Add Noise – Amount 30% / Gaussian / Monochromatic.

  4. Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur – Radius: 0.9 pixsels.

  5. Filter – Stylize – Wind – Stagger / From The Left:

  6. Image – Rotate Canvas – 90 CCW

  7. Filter – Stylize – Wind – Stagger/ From the Right

  8. Image – Rotate Canvas – 90 CW to rotate the image in the final position:

  9. As you know, you can also find some shadows in the grass, so we can add a last effect.
Add a new layer: Layer – New – Layer – OK.

  10. Press D to reset the colors into Black and White and then press X to inverse them to White/Black.

  11. From the top menu: Filter – Render – Clouds.

  12. Change the layer mode and the transparence, Overlay / 30% – 50%.
