1. First of all, pick an image to edit. I’ve chosen this one:
If you want to use it, right click on it – Save As – Open in Photoshop.

  2. Or, you can choose any other image and File – Open.

  3. Make a new layer (Layer – New – Layer) and by using Paint Bucket Tool, fill it with black .

  4. Now we’ll create a frame. Add a new layer (Layer – New – Layer) and by using Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) we’ll make a selection similar to the one below.

  5. By using Brush Tool, we will color the selection in white.

  6. Open a new layer (Layer – New – Layer) and make a selection like the one below, then color it in black.

  7. Select the layer called “Layer 2″ (the one created earlier) and from the menu: Layer – Layer Style – Drop Shadow and use the following settings:
    opacity: 30%
    angle: 120

  8. Right click on the Background Layer (the one that contains the image) and select Duplicate Layer and then OK. We will have two layers: Background and Background copy. Move the Background copy layer above all the layers. After this, right click again on the Background copy layer and select Create clipping Mask. We now have the first picture, which contains only a part of the original picture.

  9. Select Layer 2 and Layer 3 (the one with the frame and the one with the rectangle) while pressing CTRL + left click on each layer and by continuing with keeping CTRL pressed we can see that we can move with the mouse the frame of the picture (in our case, the white one) over the image.

  10. Select Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) and then Right Click on the picture and Free Transform. We can change the angle of the picture, by spinning from the corners, the angle of the picture.

  11. Now, to make many small picture, select the 3 layers (Layer 2, Layer 3 and Background Copy) with CTRL + Left click, then Right click on one of them – Duplicate Layers – OK. We will have 3 layers identical with the first ones.

  12. Now we will repeat Step 9. Left click on Layer 2 copy and by holding CTRL pressed, select Layer 3 copy. Keeping CTRL pressed, we can see that we can move with the mouse another picture.

  13. Step 10 helps us to change the angle of the created picture.

  14. Repeat steps 11, 12, 13 to create as many pictures as you can, so that you can cover almost the whole original pictures with these small ones. Here’s what the final result should look like:
