In this tutorial you will learn how to make a really cool photo manipulation.

  1. First of all, open the image you want to modify. I’ve used the following one.
    Right click on it – Save – .. – OK and the from Photshop : File – Open – select the image – OK.

  2. After loading the image, pick Rectangular Marquee Tool (don’t forget to set the Feather to 0 px) and select the right side of the image. Then, right click in the scene – Layer via Copy.You need to have 2 layers now, the one with the entire image and the on with the half. Change the mode of the one with the half to Soft Light.

  3. Select Eliptical Marquee Tool (Feather: 1px) and with SHIFT pressed, select the eye (you can move the selection by holding Space) – right click in the scene – Layer via Copy.

  4. Press CTRL + U and add the following settings – OK.

    The eye should get a shade of green.

  5. Now save the following image:
     

    Right click – Save.

    From Photoshop: File – Place – select the image – OK.
    Now, from the corners, you can change the size of the image and from the inside you can move it with the cursor. Place it in such way that it covers the left half of the face, just like in the following image.

  6. Change the mode of the texture in Hard Light.

  7. Select the following brush ( Right click – Save – .. – OK)
    >>Get brush<<
    Double click on it to add it in the Photoshop List.
    Back to the program, select Brush Tool (press B), right click in the scene and select from the list the brush that you’ve just added (probably it will be the last)

  8. Add a new layer above the texture layer.

  9. Press D to rest the colors (Black/White) or select the color black, and, having Brush Tool selected, click in the scene like in the following image:

  10. Add the same brush once again, but this time in the bottom.

  11. Change the mode of the layer again to Hard Light.

  12. CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + N to add a new layer.
    Then select Line Tool, from top, Weight: 3px, color: white and trace a line between the the pictures (hold SHIFT to trace it vertically).

  13. Add a new layer: CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + N.
    Select Rectangular Marquee Tool (Feather: 0 px) and make a similar selection:

  14. From top, Select – Inverse. The right click in the scene – Fill.
    Click on Use: select Color… (it doesn’t matter if it’s selected, select again to show the color pallet) – select the black color – OK – OK.

    CTRL + D to deselect.

  15. Right click on the layer with the frame – Blending Options – check Stroke – change the color to white – OK.

    You’re now free to add anything to the image to improve it.
