How To: Be A More Patient Person
How To Be A More Patient Person
Everyone knows the old sayings “patience is a virtue” or “all good things come to those who wait” and so on. But how many of us are actually able to live by these rules. In this crazy hectic world we live in, it is so hard to be patient all the time, it is nearly impossible. In this article I would like to share some ways that will help you become more patient and “yes” I do try to live by this advice as well.
Here are things you can do:
We all get more impatient during traffic hours, and getting frustrated is not going to make the cars move any faster. Plan to leave your home or where ever you are about 10 to 15 minutes earlier – pop in your favorite cd and enjoy your time alone.
Dealing with elderly people (especially hard of hearing ones) can really be trying on your patience. But tell yourself that this will be you someday and you would like people to be patient with you. You will also find that when you slow down your pace and help the elderly you will get a gratifying feeling and the compassionate side of you will come out more and more.
When you feel your impatience coming to the surface, stop and take a few deep breaths, count to ten. Getting impatient will only stress you out and will not make the matter at hand get any better. Just relax. Remind yourself that there are so many people who would give anything to live your life and be in your shoes. People who are disabled, deaf, can’t stand by themselves, missing limbs, and homeless, you have to thank your lucky stars all the time and this should help you to bring the patience down to null.
Try to banish the things that are making you stressed and in turn this will help your patience. Don’t overload yourself this only adds to the stress then leads to impatience. It is all one big crazy cycle.
Also keep in mind that things are not always going to go as planned. This causes impatience. But maybe it was not meant to be and there is another and better door that will be opened. Let things happen naturally and just stay calm. Getting impatient, stressed or angry will not change anything except your mood and the mood of others around you.
Take things one day at a time. Haven’t you ever had something you wanted or were waiting for and it didn’t work out but just around the corner something better came along. Life is too short, enjoy it now while you can. Remember what is important around you and you won’t believe the changes that will occur in your life.
Why do I know all this – because I lived through these things, I was a very impatient person and tended to be stressed all the time. After some months of things that had happened to me and taking a step back and looking at the things that were most important to me, I had made life changing changes and I am a new person now. I am so much more relaxed and more patient. People tell me all the time the difference they see in me. I enjoy my kids so much more now and I love living and taking things one day at a time. In this time new doors have opened up to me and being self employed has become a lot more profitable. Take it from me, learn to be more patient and you and others around you will be more successful and happy.
